News crew shot & killed in live broadcast

UPDATE:

Police say arrest imminent, chasing suspect down highway.  Suspect believed to be disgruntled former employee

 

From the AP:

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe says police are chasing the suspect in a fatal on-air shooting, and his arrest is imminent.

McAuliffe says on a radio show on WTOP that the suspect is believed to be a disgruntled employee of WDBJ-TV. He says police are pursuing the suspect on Interstate 64.

 

 

 

During a live news report this morning on WDBJ 7, several shots were fired and the reporter and guest began screaming.  ABC News confirms reporter and camera crew were killed:

From WDBJ

This happened during a live broadcast around 6:45 a.m.

Police are looking for a suspect who apparently opened fire on WDBJ7 photographer Adam Ward and WDBJ7 reporter Alison Parker.

Adam was 27-years-old. Alison just turned 24.

Both were from the WDBJ7 viewing area.

Adam graduated from Salem High School and Virginia Tech.

Alison grew up in Martinsville and attended Patrick Henry Community College and James Madison University
