A 62 year old man, Thomas McCary, is being held – without bond – on 4 counts of felonious assault. McCary was in an argument with a woman around 8 p.m. Sunday night and when the woman’s brother, Patrick Ewing, intervened, McCary pulled out a .38-caliber handgun and fired 3 shots at him, Cincinnati Police said.
Ewing was not hit, but is, as it turns out, is a licensed Concealed Carry Permit Holder, so he was able to pull his own gun and fired three shots, striking McCary.
McCary fled to his house and re-emerged a few moments later with an additional gun. Now, with a gun in each hand, he fired three shots in the direction of the woman he was arguing with, her 1 year old son, and a third man.
The victims retreated into their home for shelter. Seeing his relatives’ lives in danger, Ewing fired additional rounds at McCary to distract him and save the 3 victims from any further harm.
According to Fox19:
McCary was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center and arrested. He was treated, released and booked into the jail by 3:30 a.m. Monday.
A good guy with a gun stood up to danger, all before Police were able to show up, and stopped a bad guy with a gun, saving lives.
