This needs to be said in advance: There is no way, yet, to validate the BPPO’s claims. We do not know if BPPO is actually connected to the Dallas attack, but we do know they took credit for it.
The Facebook page of the Black Power Political Organization has been removed, but a cached copy of the page shows that it mentions a number of black liberation groups including the New Black Panther Party, and the Huey P Newton Gun Club, a paramilitary organization that has been doing training in Dallas for several years.
Thursday night saw the biggest loss of life for America’s law enforcement since 9/11. Last night five police officers were killed, six officers were wounded and two civilians were shot according to the most recent reports. The Black Power Political Organization has taken responsibility for the attack according screen shots of a Facebook post. The group’s Facebook account has since been taken down.
“Sniper Assassins Take Down Five Police Officers! And More Will Be Assassinated In The Coming Days! Do You Like The Work Of Our Assassins? Get Your Own Sniper Rifle And Join Our Thousands Of Sniper Assassins Worldwide In The Fight Against Oppression!”
So far, there has been no official comment on these statements. In earlier publications, the group called “to end the oppression” of black people using the hashtags #BlackPower and #Blackknights, the cache shows. The BPPO says that it’s aim is to create the “United States of Africa”. Its rallying cries are: “Free yourself from the white men” and help “Free Africa from western and non-black people control.”
The Black Power Political Organization’s website links to the PBS film the Vanguard of the Revolution, a taxpayer-funded film that has been previously exposed as being full of lies and concerning the 1960s Black Panther party. The Black Panthers remained a powerful influence on current day black liberation movements and groups such as Black Lives Matter.
Micah X. Johnson is a resident of Texas and a veteran who served in Afghanistan and who, according to Dallas Police Chief David Brown, told officers he was “upset about Black Lives Matter” and the “recent police shootings,” and that he wanted to kill white people, specifically white officers. He claimed that “IEDs” had been placed throughout the city. He also claimed to have been working alone, though initial reports suggested it was a coordinated attack. After negotiations with Johnson broke down, police were forced to kill him using a bomb robot.
