Another Gun Runner benefits from a plea bargain

Efraim Diveroli, a 24-year old gun runner, had scored a $300 million dollar weapons deal with the Pentagon for Afghanistan in 2007…he was eventually charged with ripping them off, and is now at it again, trying to purchase guns for “resale in the Miami area”

Diveroli’s old company, AEY Inc., was awarded the contract three years ago to supply ammo & weapons from former Eastern Bloc countries, but was arrested & charged after slapping new labels on boxes on Chinese munitions made in the 1960’s.  A New York Times investigation lead to his indictment and eventually, a plea agreement on a conspiracy charge. So what did Diveroli do while awaiting sentencing? He started dealing in more illegal gun runs, of course.

On Friday, Diveroli was arrested again after falling into an undercover sting operation set up by agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  During his arrest, he was quoted as saying: “Once a gun runner, always a gun runner.”

So, really, this all just BEGS the question:  What is the point of having “more” gun laws, if our Government refuses to enforce the gun laws ALREADY on the books?
